About Cameos
The Cameo has
enjoyed almost universal appeal since it introduction almost 2500 years
ago.
Artwork executed in hard stone, shell, lava, coral, ivory, or
other materials when carved in a bas-relief,
and raised above its
background is appropriately called a Cameo.
Items on this site
referred to as antiques* are at least 100 years old.
Vermeil or
vermilion consists of a base of sterling silver coated or plated on the
surface
with gold or gold alloy of not less than 10K
fineness.
